also English version below.

As Mr Leon Chu suggested, some parties may misinterpret the complains from the audience. Well, let me do this recap in English.

I attended the performance of the Bamberger Symphoniker on Sat 18 Mar. Clapping was heard between each movements of both Dvorak Symphony No. 9 & Brahms Symphony No. 4. I can see the conductor from my seats. Personally I don’t have strong opinions on the clapping at these times, though I don’t do it as I think it is inappropriate, just a little bit annoyed. I only suggested any one of HK orchestras shall stage Haydn Symphony No. 90, as a joke to my friends, and by no means to make a fuss about it.

I do notice Mr Chu making his comment. I recalled once Russian Conductor Vladimir Jurowski, praising Hong Kong audience, refrain from clapping between 3 & 4 Movement of the Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6. The situation in the weekend just quite a new low from that.

We also noticed some members of the audience, also complain about the actual house rules were implemented poorly by the organiser. On the ticket they stated, “Latecomers admit after pref of the 1st sym”. However on Saturday. Latecomers were admitted between 1 & 2 movements of the Dvorak Symphony No. 9 resulting a very long odd pause between the movements.

However then I see the post from the organiser, the thank you letter from the maestro, claiming he don’t mind clapping. I think I really need to explain a bit what I think about the clapping. I remember between the 3rd & 4th movements of Dvorak Symphony No. 9, and well before the Brahms Symphony No. 4, Maestro Hrusa did maintain his position, showing the orchestra to continue, and the sudden claps did stop him to continue. Although in the thank you letter, the maestro don’t mind, but I don’t think such LONG pause or these clapping a happy experience at all.
